OK, so unless you live under a rock you should know by now that the new Eminem album has been leaked. I'm sure it was done on purpose to muster up some press and get people hooked on this goodness early. With that said I have obtained the tracks and listened to each of them... several times now. I can't wait to buy this shit!
Em is back, and in a big way. Now, there is a lot of the same old same old on there. Talking about him getting sober, his mom, childhood, being a parent, and so on. What I like about it is that he has completely tightened his flow and is throwing out things that no other rapper would try. Some of the things he says and the way he does is insane. He even mentions how "the last CD was meh." Which is true. Yeah it is Em and yeah I got it. But all the stupid voices and accents really cheapened it for me. I like when he does it here and there to be funny, but due to the drug use it became more of a crutch I think.
Now with this record there are some awesome samples that are used such as in the song "No Love" where they actually made Haddaway's "What Is Love" (you might remember it from the SNL skits, night of the Roxbury, or EVERY dance if you were in school during the 90's!) sound awesome. And the song that has been stuck in my head for days now is "Going Through Changes" which features the Ozzy banging out the chorus from Black Sabbath's "Changes"
All in all I liked the album and I'm glad Em found his way through the darkness. Some of the things I didn't like were all the sing song choruses that he did. It started to feel like they were all similar. He raps, he sings, he raps, he sings, he raps, he sings - end song. But the raps are sooooo freakin' good you don't mind. Just my opinion, I don't need some die hards coming after me. lol. Either way bump this shit and enjoy!
