Eyes Set To Kill - White Lotus (A Review)

So.. it's not a bad effort. The album is pretty good, but not really my cup of Jäger. They have a guy doing the scream vocals named Cisko Miranda. He's not bad, not guttural enough in my opinion. But that's my preference. The music to me isn't really intricate, more basic. It almost sounds to me like it would be someones first CD or a demo. It kinda lacks guidance. The clean vocals are well done, but in some areas seem out of place.

One thing I was looking forward to was the covers. There is a cover of Doll Parts by Hole, and Polly by Nirvana. Both original tunes are awesome. Doll Parts is written all about Kurt and his alleged suicide. (not going to get into that on here). And its actually really well done by Courtney. ESTK, not so much. It's OK, but it totally lacks that raw emotion that a song like that needs. And it's sung way to high. And Polly. No.. no. I know what you are thinking, I'm not the guy that says no one can cover Nirvana. Not true. Otep does and awesome version of Breed, Ill Niño killed Territorial Pissings, Fear Factory did a really good job on School. It can be done. ESTK missed the mark. They should have had the screamer guy give it a shot. I like Alexia Rodriguez's voice. It's just those are raspy raw tunes, and you need that. Check it out, you be the judge.

Red State (Review)

So.. I hate to say it, but this movie was terrible. I thought I would like because I'm a huge Kevin Smith fan, and really I do love Kevin. But this was a miss for me. I love his View Askew titles. Clerks is by far one of my most favourite movies. This didn't go so well. Not gonna lie I had read some reviews on it before I knew it was out. And they said pretty much what I felt after I watched it. It was WAY to preachy. And I get that that is how those people really are, but I think that if they had gone far enough to start killing people that they wouldn't be all about the dialog, they'd want to get down to the business of killing the sinners. Honestly, I think the idea was pretty kool and after reading up on the Westboro freaks, I can see where he was coming from. Those fuckers are nuts and I could see them doing something that crazy.
My parting words for Kevin would be something to the effect of, "Kevin I would love to tell ya to stick to comedies, but as and artist I can understanding branching out. So I'll go with, good try, next time less words more killing! Get the crazy point quicker some can dig in and forget we are watching a movie and start joining the fight for our lives."

Horrible Bosses (Review)

So I'm not going to lie, there isn't a lot of really good comedies going on lately. Even putting this on I had my reservations. As much as I like Jason Bateman I find his movies are hit or miss. And to me this one was a hit. It's not a constant barrage of jokes and one liners, but I think that helps to make it seem real. If you have never had a boss you hated, man, you are wicked lucky. There has been a few that I would love to have something happen to them. Maybe not death, because that is way to drastic, but I do feel some people need something to humble them and bring them back to earth. This came up labled as a black comedy, I guess because it revolves around death, but I wouldn't look into it that hard. It dwells in that part of the brain where we all feel we deserve more, which is something EVERYONE can relate with. And sure the horrible bosses are drastic over dramatized characters, but I have met people like that. Some of the shit that Jennifer Aniston says, wow. I didn't see that coming. She was Rachelle for god sakes. But I think she has done a great job of getting away from that character. As well does everyone else in the movie. It's really well done and I enjoyed it for sure. Check it out.

Blink-182 - Neighborhoods (A Review)

So.. this one was bitter sweet for me. I have always been a fan of Blink. I think they are hilarious and it was a damn shame when they went on hiatus in 2005. As a metalhead I did go back and forth on liking them because it was pop punk and there is this inner part of me that hates anything popular. So even though the songs were catchy and more something your sister would love, they were some funny dudes writing some killa tracks. So when they reunited in 2008 I was pretty stoked. During that time we got to hear their side projects like Angels & Airwaves (which I will be honest I heard the first single and never gave it another chance. Maybe I should, lemme know). Transplants (which I liked), +44 (which I hated), Box Car Racer (which I actually really dug, and had hoped Neighborhoods would have sounded like), and Travis did a solo album called `Give the Drummer Some` (which is fucking awesome). Plus multiple remixes he did for various rappers.
So I got the disc and checked it out. It's pretty boring I thought. The drumming is amazing though. You can honestly listen to it just for that. The songs are poppy shit. There is little punk left. I guess they wanted to show how they have grown, which is not what you want when you listen to Blink 182. Like I said I would have rather'd another Box Car Racer disc. It's more mature, and slightly heavier. I dunno. It wasn't what I was looking for, maybe it will be for you. Check it out.

Stupid slogan T-shirts...

So I'm reading this shit on yahoo's website about a t-shirt that had to be pulled off the shelf because consumers (Internet trolls) have found it offensive. It said "I'm too pretty to do homework, so my brother has to do it for me". Come on people! Why are we looking into this so much. It's simple: You don't like it, don't buy it! J.C. Penney's had to pull it off the shelf and discontinue all sales of it. Then they released a statement of apology.

People wear a lot stupider shit, trust me. I'm not a fan of the shirts that say "future trophy wife"; so guess what.. MY DAUGHTER WILL NEVER OWN ONE! For children ages 6-16 (which is what this was aimed at) I think that parents should have 90% if not 100% input on what their child should wear. Argue if you want. But that's what I'm sticking with. David & Goliath had a shirt that read "I'm too pretty to do math" that went under fire as well as Forever 21 has one that says "allergic to algebra". Why do we care??

The article that I was reading says it is teaching our kids to lessen their self worth. Let me tell ya, the only people that are buying this shit are people that don't give a shit about their self worth and are passing it on to their kids. Maybe we should start showing more smart celebs on TV as role models instead of these useless whores that are always getting into some trouble AND we just can't wait to see what they will do next... blah!

If this seriously has to do with women showing less interest in the math and science fields, do something about it! Stop cutting school programing, start making things more fun in school. You know perk interest in those fields, instead of paying money for the next brain dead blond to shit out a terrible music CD and so on. All in all this comes down to the parents. Either you are invested in your child showing them whats right and wrong, teaching them where priorities should lay. Or you're not. I think if a child excels at say math, and then wears a shirt as such that they find funny. .. What's the harm? If their grades are falling don't blame the clothes they are wearing, blame yourself.

Kienan Hebert’s abduction - Questions...

SO, I didn't immediately get into this story at first. There was some things passed around on facebook and that sparked interest (wow social is actually good for something!). So after I started looking into the story, which I normally don't due because child abduction depresses the shit out of me, but I had heard things that had me questioning it right away.

- So Kienan was taken right out of his bed in the middle of the night. No one heard anything? Now, I know I can't compare myself but we as humans I think for the most part automatically put ourselves in the position of the victims. So I did that. I am a HEAVY sleeper. My wife on the other hand, if the neighbors fish makes a bubble too loud she wakes up. (slight exaggeration). But lets say it's just me. My kids rooms are close enough that I can hear my daughter (5) get up to go pee. So unless this 200lbs man is a freakin' ninja, it's not happening. So once again, maybe the parents rooms are on different floors. That would make sense I guess. How sound of a sleeper is Kienan? We all know he is back and there are no bumps and bruises, so how did he get him out of the house with out him screaming. Kienan is 3. So it my little man, and I will tell ya, someone that doesn't know him is pulling him out of bed he's going ape shit!

- So I see Kienan's dad pleaing for his return. Now again I don't truly know how I would react. But I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be calm and collected. It would have been more like "LOOK HERE YOU MOTHERFU##ER! GIVE MY KID BACK OR YOU ARE FU##ING DEAD! I WILL DEDICATE THE REST OF MY LIFE TO ENDING YOURS! RUN MOTHERFU##ER!!!!".. now I'm paraphrasing here. But you get the idea. Kienan's dad said he can't remember if the door was locked the night he went missing. Well I'm guessing since there was no forced entry that yes dumbass, you failed to do your job as a parent and keep them safe. The very last thing you do before you go to bed is make sure that the most precious things in the world are protected and locked up. I ALWAYS lock up before bed. If I go to bed and think I didn't I double check. There has to be 100% no doubt in my mind that they are safe.

- So then... THEN.. The abductor brings the child back! At first I was through the roof happy to hear it! Now that was a good morning right! So where did they find Kienan? "Back in the house on the sofa with his blanket @ 3am." WAIT YOU GOTTA BE SHITTING ME! SO let me get this straight...

--> The house is considered a crime scene. It has tape around it. And STILL no one locked the door?? This guy walked right back into the damn house, the scene of the crime, through the same goddanm door??

--> The criminal called 911 and said the kid was back in the house safe and sound. WHAT? It's a high profile crime scene that's not locked, AND NO ONE IS WATCHING THE FUCKING PLACE? There isn't an unmarked van sitting near by with someone staking it out? Does that only happen in the movies? Cuz it seems like a good damn idea to me.

--> The call comes in @ 3am. SO I'm guessing that the police got over there ASAP right? How many cars or people are out in that area around 3AM? Wouldn't the entire available force swarm that place and stop any vehicle or person that happens to be out around that time and haul them in for questioning. You don't even have to do that. I know he's 3 but if you bring the people in that are out at that time and say who is the person that took you. He's going to point them out. I know my son could tell you whats going on. Plus everyone knows about this case. If you stop them I'm sure they will say yeah I'll come in and clear my name I know I didn't take the little guy.

- So they have been blaming Randall Hopley (which it may or may not be.) Now before you get your undies in a knot, I'm not on this guys side. He is a "known sex offender". You don't want me to go into that shit. There should not be a thing as a "known sex offender." You get caught raping a woman or child, it's simple they should drag you into the street and put one in the back of your head. One less waste of life on the street, and the rest of us can sleep better. Anyway, so they are saying it's him. As far as I could see and I could be wrong, but it doesn't say how they know. I don't know if they found finger prints, or if he was the only "known sex offender" in the area so he gets pinned. Once again, not on this assholes side.. read above if you forget my feelings.

- They found him in an abandoned shack by a rock quarry in Crowsnest Pass, Alberta. At least that's what I heard. Again the details have been hear and there and hit and miss with this whole case, which is why I have so many questions. If it was an abandoned building... why? Why do we have these places where shitty people can take victims? Let's start getting rid of places like that. Don't give them places. It's not like a Batman movie. Bad guys don't have an elaborate lair. They find out of the way abandoned places to do bad shit.

AS a side note, why is the best picture of Kienan one where it looks like he got beat up? Just saying. Take some more pics of the little guy.

Personally I will be trying to watch this case as it unfolds over the next few months. I guess Hopley will be under a psych evaluation for the next 60 days or something. I want to see how this plays out. In the meantime guys kiss your kids and keep them safe!

Lenny Kravitz - Black and White America (Review)

SO.. Lenny is pretty awesome. And there are some really great funky tracks on this record. It's definitely one to put on and make some sweet lovin'. With that said.. that's about all it's good for. The rock songs aren't heavy or fast enough. Remember Are You Gonna Go My Way ? Now that was a solid track. This is for sure a great funk album though with some sick ass bass lines too. But for me it's not consistent. Get your lady, and put this on.

The Game - The R.E.D. Album (Review)

Say what you want, but I like the Game. He is a really good artist even though he has had so many ups and downs with career and falling out with Aftermath and coming back. LAX was really good. Sure it's all gangsta and about bloods and shit. But if you wave through all that shit there is some good stuff in there. It bumps in the car and makes you wanna through up gang signs!! yeah yeah! Plus there is a lot of references to Boyz n the Hood. Awesome movie!

The Devil Wears Prada - Dead Throne (Review)

So this was a pretty good disc. In my opinion it's a little generic though. Maybe it's because I've never really been into these guys, or what. I find the vocals a little whiny screaming, which I'm more of a gutteral growl kinda guy. But the music was really good and it all fit together bur not my cup of Jäger.

Bad Teacher (Review)

So I watched this flick the other day. It was pretty good. BUT, I dunno.. comedies now a days are off. Like they all want to be a Judd Apatow flick. Like.. it used to be there was raunchy comedies, like Superbad, Jay and Silent Bob: Strike Back where swearing and people saying crazy things like "I want to sit on his face" made sense. Then there were the heart warming romantic comedies that you knew what was going to happen, and you went along for the familiar ride. This flick had all the elements of a romantic comedy, but then there were moments of WTF? Don't get me wrong, it was those moments that kept me watching. I'm a raunch man. But to me.. it didn't totally fit in this one. It's funny, but I don't know that I will watch it again. Jason Segel is in it and he's kinda the man. So we will see!

Staind - New shit

So I have got my paws on a couple tracks for the up coming Staind Cd. Now I have loved these guys since they came on the scene. Dysfunction was a great fucking disc, I blew the shit out of that in high school and even covered some tunes while I was in a band. Needles to say I was a little hesitant after Aaron Lewis did his country thing (which wasn't bad but the whole album was repetitive and kinda boring), but from everything I heard so far this is good man. Check this shit out! Disc is set to hit sometime in Sept. Can't wait!

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light (Review)

So here we go, the Foo's are back. And.. well. It's shit. IMO. I'm just saying. But to be totally honest I don't think they have really done anything worth giving a shit about since The Colour and the Shape. Now that was a fucking rock album. Great tracks nice high pace, even the mellower tunes were good. This one start to finish I was waiting for something to happen. The lead single Rope was probably the best thing on there. Now I'm not going to lie after the first couple I was disappointed enough that I might have actually tuned the rest out. We will see if it grows on me. I can't see. I really like Dave Grohl he is the man that can do everything. And he has, check out his resume.

Across the Sun - Before the Night Takes Us (Review)

So this one was.. I don't even know. It's good, but it's odd.. it's here and there. Sometimes they sound like KsE, sometimes there are these weird keys buzzing around your head. Honestly at one point I thought I was listing to Howard Jones. But it wasn't quite on. It was like Howard was having issues hitting notes or didn't warm up. With that said it's not terrible. It's got metal core elements, prog, and like opera-metal kinda vibes. There are some really good tracks on the disc and from what I can tell this is there first one. Good on them, this is a great opener that will help them push forward into the abyss that is modern metal right now. Where most bands sound very similar. Maybe the keys (even though sometimes out of place) will help them stand out and bridge a gap some folks are missing. This is one to get, but it is for sure an acquired taste, preview it first. I am actually wondering how this transfers to live performance. If they come to Calgary I will surely check them out.

So I finally got around to watching this. I had really high hopes and it's not bad. The beginning is pretty well done, lots of ghost activity. I LOVE paranormal stuff as I'm sure you know by now. And I'm super curious about demonology. BUT.. for me and some other friends who are really into this stuff it full short an hour into it.

** SPOILER **

So things for went off course when it starts on about the "traveling". It's kind of a kool concept, we think they are dreams really our souls are traveling on a different plain. No problem I'm with you. Demon wants the boys body, still with ya. Show where the demon's dwelling is and having him sharpening his (metal?) claws? Losing me. Demon looks like darth maul? K I'm out.

I think they did really well with the ghost part but lost it a little. Don't get me wrong it's a good flick and I'd watch it again. But would have liked it better if it stayed a ghost story. It's tough because The Exorcist still after all these years has the corner on best ghost/demon story. This is for sure one of the best to come out in the recent years. Turn the lights out.. crank up the volume and sit back and watch this one late at night. Enjoy!

All Shall Perish - This Is Where It Ends (Review)

So I just came across this, it's not out until July 29th says wikipedia. THIS RECORD IS FUCKING AWESOME! I have all their albums so far and everyone of them are fan-fuckin-tastic! My fav track is still from their disc The Price of Existence, it's called Wage Slaves. If you don't know it you better get on that. Start to finish this disc pounds. In my car it gave me a back massage from all the double kick. At one point I honestly had to change pants.. that's all I'm saying. This type of music is not for everyone, but it's awesome sauce in a world of bland foods. I'm not even going to give you tracks to check out. Just get this disc when it drops and sit back and enjoy! It will not disappoint unless you are a douche. And you're not a douche right?

3 Doors Down - Time of My Life (Review)

So as I had mentioned these vets are back at it with their new disc here. We all know their older stuff and have pretty high expectations for these guys on their 5th album. Their self titled came out in 2008 with a Christmas on in between. To me.. this is not bad, BUT, it's kinda the opposite of the Pop Evil disc. The lyrics are there but the music isn't. It's still good, but it's very light rock. Which normally I love by them, but it didn't hold up to their other efforts. I'm sure the die hards will love it, it's exactly what they will be expecting from the guys. Maybe it was a bad idea to listen to it the same time as the other 2 heavier rock albums, but I wasn't blown away by it. At points I was actually bored and thought I was listening to the same song over and over again. I had to keep checking that it was changing. Not a good sign. To me it's a skip, and I heard it's not even out yet. I think it comes out this week, so check it out. I always say judge it yourself, but to me it's pass.

RED - Until We Have Faces (Review)

So like I said I had never heard of these guys until a friend of mine passed them on to me. I liked it. It's kind of a hit or miss disc for me though. It goes all over. From a pop-rock vibe to an almost Nu-Metal or heavy rock sound. Don't get me wrong I like when a band has a wide range and shows they aren't one dimensional. Bands like Slipknot that very well. These guys aren't close to that heavy, but none the less. Some of the tracks remind me of Tool from a vocals stand point. While other tracks are in the same area of Chevelle or Evans Blue. All those bands are great and it's a pretty good group to be lumped in with. Then there are songs that are almost too pop for me. Maybe it's to grab the radio listening section, I have no idea, but they wouldn't make it on any of my play lists for sure. Give these guys a chance, like I said they are all over so there is surely something on here you will like. Maybe preview it before and get only the tracks you like, yadda yadda.

Pop Evil - War of Angels (Review)

First off out of the gate the album art is pretty kool, very awesome concept.. props to the artist for sure. I love a good cover, usually sets the tone for the disc I'm about to experience. This is what I have to say about these guys, they are rockers! I love the southern rock vibe through the whole disc. I don't know if it's Leigh Kakaty's vocals or the ripping guitars, but it's just a good rocking disc. Now as a wordsmith myself there are some parts that I find painful cuz the lyrics aren't quite where they could be. Sometimes it comes off a little amature / garage band-ish. Which sometimes works cuz I do like raw emotions, and it's only their second disc, But I would like to see if more polished, and the lyrics a little more intricate.

Rock Review's A Coming!

Now I don't listen to all that much rock anymore. I was a big rock/alternative guy in the 90's and in many ways that is still where my heart is. I read an article once that said whatever you listening to is your late teens early 20's is going to be your favorite type of music your whole life. Now I'm into mostly deathcore, metalcore, really heavy shit. But you put on a Nirvana disc, or something from Pearl Jam and I'm in heaven. But with that said; since those bands are so dear to my heart most rock music now sucks. Just the way I look at it folks. In many ways I think that music in general is in a sad state. You can't turn on a radio right now without hearing some whore singing about sex. I'm sure they are nice people, but they don't have anything to say. And the old adage is "sex sells". Well now that's all that is selling. Everyone wants something on that they can grind on each other to at the club. Not that there's anything too wrong with a little "Bump & Grind". But pop music is shit right now.
There are 3 rock albums that came out recently and 2 of the bands I have enjoyed previous selections by.

- Pop Evil - Had a decent album called Lipstick on the mirror come out in 2008. There is a song called "Hero" that I really liked. It was the lead off on the album and had some success on the radio I believe. These guys are posted under Post-grunge on wikipedia. With all the sub-genres now a days it's a little crazy. It's rock music.

- Red - They are an American Christian rock band that have had a couple discs come out. I had never heard of them until this was passed on to me. And before we get into things further: I don't care what religion you are, music is music. I'm not a big fan of the "Christian Rock" label that a lot of bands come out under. Who cares your beliefs. It's rock music.

- 3 Doors Down - These dudes have sold over 16 million albums world wide and tour like mad men. Everyone knows who they are from songs like Kryptonite, Be Like That, and Here Without You, Here Without You being one of my personal favs. They have a new disc out and it's chalk filled with rock music.

So I have spent the last couple days listening to nothing but rock and seeing what I like and don't. Until today I stumbled onto the new All Shall Perish disc... and have since had to change my pants, pretty much with each track. So bring on the reviews!!

New dream!!

So I guess I spoke too soon about not having any dreams! Last night I had a doozy. It was awesome. So it starts out with me buying an old abandoned University to renovate into a house. So apparently in my dreams I am Oprah rich! Anyway and bunch of friends and I went down to check out the building and see what we will need to do to renovate it. When we get there it looks like it's in pretty good shape. I open one door and it's pitch black. All I can see are these glowing yellow eyes. Then I slip into something. I thought it was a swimming pool or something. I only went in about waist deep. I pulled myself up and the lights came on. The glowing eyes belonged to lions! dun dun daa!
Anyway this is where the dream gets wild. So the lions are my friends, they had 1 at a time fallen into the swimming pool in the dark and turned into Lions. Turned out that the swimming pool was filled with a mutagen that turned people into lions and it was this big conspiracy from this crazy doctor guy that was a professor there before it shut down. I guess they found out what he was doing, took away his licenses and shit and closed the school.
Since I had only fallen half way in I became a werewolf like beast. Half lion half human, 100% ass kicker. So I went on to save the day through defeating me lion/friends and other henchmen. Kicked the evil doctors ass and got him locked up. And that was the end.
I suppose it's a decent ending. But when I woke up I had a lot of questions. Can I change back into a human? Who cleaned up my pool of junk? I don't even know if there is like a company that deals with that.. Cuz if I pull the plug it's going to mutate everything in the sewer. Although that would make it easy for a sequel...
So after 15 mins of analyzing the dream I think I need to make this into a movie or comic book. lol.

I love dreams. Anything can happen. Bring it on!

"Weird Al" Yankovic - Alpocalypse (Review)

So the latest disc to be passed on to me is the one the only "Weird Al" Yankovic's new one, "Alpocalypse". Now I might catch some flack for this one. But you know what.. screw you guys! LOL. We all have guilty pleasures. Al is mine. I have every album he has put out (except greatest or the food album cuz they have all the same tunes on there) and personally I think he's a freakin' genius. My obsession goes back to the days of BMG or Columbia House. You remember that shit? Where you would get 20 Cd's for a penny and then you had to buy 5 at regular price to fulfil your deal or whatever. Yeah that's where it all started. I got a bunch from there when I was young and he's just been there ever since. I might even expand this into a full review of Al himself!!

I digress. "Alpocalypse" is a great funny disc. He does what he does best. Only now he's taking shitty pop tunes and making them almost funnier than they already are with their shitty auto tune junk. So pop music kinda kills me a little more each time I put on the radio. Which is why I only listen to the radio when I drive the shuttle for work. Other than that it's iPod all the way. If anyone from Apple is reading this feel free to hook a brother up with a pimped out iPhone and I will plug that shit ALL DAY LONG!

Off topic or what today? Sorry Al. There isn't much to say really. If you like comedy, satire or parodies. "Alpocalypse" is your disc and Al is you man!

Dreams

So it's been a while since I have written about the crazy dreams I have had. I went through some of my old posts and it's crazy. All the old reoccurring dreams I was having (mostly the haunted mansion) I haven't had since then. It might be because I have been to busy to work on my movie or watch paranormal shows like I was when I was working overnights. It's funny reading the description of the dream it slowly started coming back to me, the noises, the fear, the sounds. And it an almost crazy way I felt myself thinking, "I kinda miss that". In all honesty I don't know if it's because the hours I have been working but I don't remember the last time I had a dream. I know we dream every night but don't always remember them, but it's been a long ass time since I remember a dream.

I really love paranormal stuff. Ghosts, entities, visions, feelings, all those things that come along with it. Hmmmm... I must return to the unrest of the dead! MUHAHA

Limp Bizkit - Gold Cobra (Review)

So say what you will about Limp Bizkit I really liked them when they first stepped on the scene. I personally love rap metal. It fuses two of my favorite genres together and gives you something you something you can both groove too and thrash in a pit. Now they trailed off a few years back, lost Wes Borland, got him back, and now the whole band is back together for this album. I was looking for this to come out and be brutal as hell tryin' to get back to the Three Dollar Bill, Yall$ days. The music kicks in and I'm thinking "fuck yeah the boys are back!" But then Fred starts in and all momentum is gone. What the fuck? Are you kidding me? People have been talking shit about you since 2003, (most don't know they put out an EP in 2005) and you don't have any pent up rage? You should have come out screaming "fuck everyone! Suck a cock and die LB is back and we are going to kill everyone of you nay sayers!!" But that's not what happened. What happened was a whole lot of shit. Some of the worse rapping I have ever heard. Now don't get me wrong Fred does say "We don't give a fuck" in almost every song, but it's not an aggressive thing.. just an off the cuff remark. I wanted anger and heavy riffs. I have always said Wes, Sam, John and DJ Lethal are awesome, but Fred is all over the place. Sometimes he's great and sometimes you just have to hit "next" on the ipod.

So this is what I think. Give it a try, preview before you buy it. Depending on your expectations you might regret it. Or it might be exactly what you are looking for. For me.. I'm going to go listen to Counterfeit.

Texas In July - One Reality (Review)

Great metalcore band and a really well done album. Not as put together as the ABR record but still awesome. I'm just getting into these guys, the have another record so I'm going to check it out and will prolly throw something on here. I don't know if it's a summer thing picking bands that have July and August in their names but whatever. Really good, fast, heavy. Enjoy. Crank this shit loud and bang your fist!

Tracks to check out:
- No Greater Love
- Magnolia
- 1000 Lies

August Burns Red - Leveler (Review)

So you guys ready to rock? This album is amazing. I have always liked ABR, but this album has surpassed what I was hoping for. This has some heavy, fast shit mixed with amazing jazz guitar. I don't know if they boys have a jazz background or not but some of the fills and sweeps are fucking great. So yourself a favor and get the deluxe edition. It has a wicked acoustic version of "Internal Cannon".. soo good. And they threw in a midi version of "Empire". Sounds like a Nintendo game on speed. Definitely get this one guys and gals!

Tracks to check out:
- Cutting the Ties
- Leveler
- 1/16/2011
- Carpe Diem

Plenty of Syph - You read that right!

SO there's a website out there.. and well.. click here. So the Alberta government has sunk $2M into a fake website directed toward bringing awareness of the STD (STI) Syphilis, because Alberta is the most infected province in the country. And.. JESUS CHRIST! What is going on out here in Alberta? I would like to know how our condom sales are in reference to the rest of the country. I can't believe there are still people out there that are in no hurry to wrap that shit! C'mon guys. Sex is fucking awesome! Why ruin it for yourself and everyone else by spreading this shit around? You can go to any clinic I'm sure and get some free Jimmy-Hats, so don't give me any shit about the cost.

Personally I think the website is fucking hilarious! It's a total rip on those dating sites you see out there. Which in turn is why the site http://www.plentyoffish.com/ are kinda pissed off about it. They are saying that it is giving sites like that a bad name, like all their users are disease riddled whores or something. I can see how some people would confuse the two, but not for very long I'm sure. It's an honest approach to awareness and I think this is something that the government actually did right. Don't tell them I said that, I will kill you!

Check out the site for some good laughs with your buddies. If you don't have buddies use plenty of fish to find some like minded individuals and have a party while laughing. Maybe share an STD or two.. who knows. Have fun, and just be safe assholes.. all I ask.

Vancouver riot supporter FIRED!

** Full story here **

SO a 22 year old kid named Connor Mcilvenna made some remarks on his personal facebook page about the riot that happened recently in our lovely country. Now, I don't agree with the remarks he made. I can see how it could be taken as crude humor, but with $1.3M worth of damage.. I can see how no one is laughing. But being fired for posting something on his personal facebook. I don't think that's kool. Maybe a stern talking to from the boss. Maybe ask him to remove the company's name and information from his social media outlet. But losing your job for having an opinion with your friends. Who's the ass that sold him out? The only people he should have on there are people he knows. Unless he's one of those jackasses that adds everyone he ever comes into contact with. If you are going to do that you need to have two. One where you can talk with your actual friends about feelings and and opinions, and then one where you are a professional. Right? Wait that sounds idiotic too.

I try to keep only close friends, family or people that I actually talk to on facebook. I have people from highschool add me from time to time. I add them cuz what the hell I knew them at some point. But if they haven't talked to me or commented on any thing for a month.. you gotta go. I wanna chat with people, wait wait.. sorry.. got off topic.

So back to young Mr. Mcilvenna.. like I said above. I say hire him back if he is a good employee, give him a stern talking to, remove business info from his facebook so there is no online association, and I'm sure dude has learned his lesson. If he's a shitty employee then.. fuck him I guess he had it coming, next time don't go down to watch a city get destroyed dipshit.

But what do you guys think? Where does your place of employement rights end and your personal time start? Hit me back.. thanks!

Children of Bodom - Relentless Reckless Forever (Review)

Children of Bodom are a melodic death metal band from Espoo, Finland. The dudes are amazing. I have seen them live and they shred like crazy assholes man. BUT.. personally I don't think it can be captured on an album. At least not on this one. It's good, but wasn't my thing. There was nothing that really popped out at me. I'm sure live this would be insane.. but listening to it in the car.. nadda. Like I said they are fucking amazing musicians, but compared to the last couple albums I have reviewed, there is something missing. They do however have a good version of Eddie Murphy's "Party all The Time". Check it out.

Exorcismus : The Possession Of Amy Evans (Review)

I love movies about possession. This one.. not so much. I find a lot of movies now a days have really good ideas, but the follow through sucks. Don't get me wrong this one is watchable. But if you loved "The Exorcist" it's not comparable. Which I know there will not be another like it. I watched "The Last Exorcism" which was a huge turd too. It had some great ideas, but didn't transpire to film. Which really sucks cuz Eli Roth was involved and he's awesome.

** SPOILER **

SO the gist is that a trouble teen that gets possessed by the devil. Turns out her uncle the priest pointed her in the direction for it to all happen.. blah blah blah. My issues with it... it's the fucking devil. If someone actually got possessed by the devil shit would get fucked up real quick. I think it was way too down played. Unless I missed it and there was a spirit playing the devil. I dunno. Either way it was OK, but nothing special. If you're bored and there's nothing on cable.. check it out.

Sepultura - Kairos (Review)

This one I was hesitant on. Not gonna lie. I liked Sepultura with Max Cavalera. And after he left I didn't pay a lot of attention to the goings on of Sepultura. But someone told me I needed to check this out and I'm glad they did. To me.. and again, this is just me, you might hear something else. But this album came off sounding like Slayer being fronted by Dez Fafara (Devildriver/Coal Chamber). Now that I think about it, that sounds fucking awesome!

But yeah this album is really good, it's not out yet, but you should give it a good listen when it does. There are some tunes that I thought they should have done things a little different and would have gotten a better result. I think it was Embrace the Storm, where had they chased the double kick instead of palm muting over it I think it would have sounded a little clearer and gave it more of a punch. They have Just One Fix which is a Ministry cover that is fucking great. The track Kairos that the album is named after is absolutely solid as well.

Hit this shit when it comes out you will not be disappointed!

Track You Must hear:
- Kairos
- Just One Fix
- Relentles

In Flames - Sounds of a Playground Fading (Review)

Another one that isn't out until next week and is very much one you need to go buy when it drops as well. The new In Flames disc is AWESOME! Now I have always been kind of a selective In Flames fan. Some tunes I liked some I didn't.

This album start to finish is actually my favorite so far. It's not nearly as heavy as some of their other albums, but it's still very much metal. It's almost Heavy/Rock Metal. If that makes any sense. The guitars have a lot more rock element to them and there is a lot more of a sing scream then most die hards might be used too. It's still heavy as shit, lots of low end, sounds awesome blaring in your car. But it's more open to a wider audience, and with the right push I can see them building on their already huge fan base. It's the first record without Jesper Strömblad who was their founding guitarist, which probably accounts for the changes.

They dropped "Deliver Us" May 7 as the first single. If you check it out you'll see what I'm talking about. I don't know if you guys know the band Threat Signal. If not you fucking better get on that shit too. Fucking awesome Canadian Metal.. anyway the reason I bring up TS. I find some of the vocals very similar to Jon's, which might be another reason I really liked it. Either way, really great disc go get it when it drops next week and bang your head!

Also I just want to take a second and say that the cover art is fucking amazing. I dunno why, but I love it. I think it fits the record 100%, it's great to look at, and the color is perfect. Wiki says it's by artist Dave Correia. Good damn job man!

Tracks You Must Hear:
- Sounds of a Playground Fading
- Deliver Us
- Where the Dead Ships Dwell
- Darker Times

Bad Meets Evil - Hell: The Sequel (Review)

OK.. so people are passing me music left and right and I love it. Some hasn't even hit the stores yet. So I feel a little guilty listening to it, but maybe it will help sell a record or two if I review it.

Bad Meets Evil.. Royce da 5'9" and Eminem... enough said. This fucking album is pure goddamn fire. I just blasted through the whole disc, or at least what i currently know is the full disc. It's not set to come out until next week, so things could change. But YOU NEED TO GET THIS DISC when it drops.

If you liked Recovery, you haven't seen anything yet. Eminem is on a tear this whole album. Him and Royce are spitting like they need to get as many words out as possible before they explode. It's insane. It's been a long time since I have come across something I can listen to start to finish. There is no bad tracks as far as I can see, nothing outta place or something to cause your ears to skip a beat. In all honesty I hadn't really heard of Royce before this other than he was on "Bad Meets Evil" on The Slim Shady LP. And yes I know I have a man-crush on Slim, but not cuz I think he's good looking, but I think he is the most talented dude rapping and no one is close to him in this game. That's until I heard Royce, dude totally holds his own and it makes the disc fucking great. Like I said check it out, and BUY this shit. You can bump it while you are driving down the street smacking bitches off your Tahoe.

Tracks You must hear:
- The Reunion
- A Kiss
- Lighters [Feat. Bruno Mars]
- Fastlane

Venting to the Intra webs

So the past week or so I have been really raging out around the house. Well maybe rage is the wrong word. There are a lot of things going on that are driving me crazy at the moment. I'm sure they will pass.. but to the time being right now I find myself kind of an asshole to be around.

- My job is driving me crazy. Not so much where I work, as much as the people I work for. Honestly, my boss a fucking idiot and I think she knows I could do her job 1,000,000 times better than her. I didn't come into this thinking "I'm going to screw her over and take her job." And it's still not my mentality. I just want to work somewhere that I don't hate going to, or get anxious EVERY FUCKING DAY I have to go in. I always wonder, "what are we going to argue about, what will she have to say about this or that." And sometimes I go in and she treats me like an equal and we get along great. It's such a mind fuck though. Plus no matter what goes on they fuck my schedule up EVERY week. I have kids and can't work certain hours. She knows this, but still tries to push me into things. It really sucks because I have become very jaded at work. I hate it. The first couple months were great and I loved going into work.

- My kids are having some hard times right now. What I mean is my son is potty training, which is stressful. I don't want him to wet himself and be embarrassed and at the same time I don't want him to wiz on my floors. LOL. So it's just taking time and trying to make it fun. My daughter on the other hand is trying my patience left and right. I know she is just testing me, and I should ignore it. But with work troubles putting me in a weird place I find myself having a short fuse and it's making things difficult at home. There are times I feel it hard to breathe and a tightness in my chest when I'm trying to hold it all in and not lash out a my poor girl who is just trying to figure things out and try her boundaries. We all did it/do it growing up. But I know those signs are my body telling me that I had better start calming down before it's too late and I have a heart attack or something crazy.

Like I said all this will pass. I'm sure work will figure itself out or I will move on to something that suites me better. The kids, they are just being kids and soon enough things will chill. I'm going to try to take all the pent up energy and put it into writing music and working out. Put it to use instead of harm. Thanks for listing all 10 of the people that follow me. Love you guys and it's nice to know people out there want to hear what I have to say.

I have a couple new albums I'm going to listen to and get some reviews on. If there is anything you want to know or you want reviewed or opinions on just let me know. I want to interact as much as possible. Thanks

Wii U - Annouced

So yesterday at E3 it was announced that Nintendo is throwing their hats in the ring with Xbox and PS3 with their new home console. The Wii U was announced and it looks freaking sweet! They showed the preview video and some of the things you can do with their new controller is phenomenal. I have no idea at this point what kind of price point it will have, they are looking at a 2012 release. It is going to be backward compatible with all things Wii that we know and love right now. It will now however have 1080p high-definition graphics and the new controller has a touch screen built in. It's almost like having a tablet in the middle of your controller. Can't wait. I have no idea if I will pick it up, we'll see about the price. I already have all the Wii -motes, and games.. we'll see. Also will it come with only one of the new controllers? How much is a second?

Paul - Review

I was able to check out Paul . It was super funny. I have so say I almost love everything that Seth Rogan does. I didn't like Green Hornet, but that's another story. With Paul there are a lot of laughs and Paul himself looked really well done. The only thing that soured it a little for me was that sometimes it seemed like they were doing over the top swearing just for the sake of doing it. It was like trying to bed Super Bad with an alien. I'm not saying it's entire a bad idea, but I know that if someone like me was getting a little tired of it, that there is a much greater viewing audience that will hate the flick.

But fuck them! Some great ideas are on here. There have been a lot of flicks lately that have aliens being the reason for the a lot of the advancements in our own technology. I think that's awesome. Why not, what if? Seth is great, the two guys from Shaun of the Dead were pretty funny but it was Kristen Wiig that completely rocked it! Some of the shit she said was dumb, but overall she picked up as many laughs as Seth some even bigger.

Honestly check it out. It's not for everyone, but its worth at least one watch.

Battle: Los Angeles - Review

So last night Steve and I sat down and watched Battle: Los Angeles. It was OK. Steve couldn't get over it's comparisons to the Will Smith movie Independence day. Which.. OK, there are some parts that were really close. It's tough to make a movie that hasn't already happened. Invasion movies are usually the same. Aliens come, they want something we have, We have to figure out how to get past their amazing technology advancements to kill them, and in the end humans win. For the most part that's the way it goes down.
To me.. and I LOVE Independence Day, but this one felt a lot more real. ID had a lot of comedic parts, but that's the actors they had. This one is really dark, much more realistic vibe to it. Plus it was more like military VS alien military. The aliens used a lot of war tactics that humans have used / would use, such as high ground, scouts, grunts, air and ground support. They didn't have laser guns (as far as I could tell it was closer to our weapons but upgraded. I would love a COD styled game like this. They already have zombies.. why not an alien round. Just saying.

Also Battle:LA had Ne-Yo in it. And I don't know if it was because I had a couple drinks, but through the whole movie whenever he was on the screen Steve and I broke into his song "Single", which really added to the feel of the whole taking over the world thing. No.. really.. it didn't.

So all in all I liked this flick, and recommend it. If you have a chance go to the theater and check it out, or if you have a good set up at home this will be one to grab on Blue Ray I'm sure.

UFC 137 - Announcement

Whats up kiddies? So today some big news came out that there will be a bout October 29, 2011. There are people that are all over this because GSP is going to kill him. Which I agree. Honestly i have never liked Diaz or his dipshit brother. So i personally am looking forward to the fight. I think he will stomp Diaz out.

The other group of folks are pissed that this fight was announced because it means the Silva vs GSP super fight will not happen for some time. I don't think that this fight will ever happen. Dana doesnt want his two glory boys going against each other until he really needs some money or people in the seats. If or when it happens oft will be the biggest fight in mma history and the winner (GSP) will be set for life and prolly retire.. Lol.

Who knows we'll see. I just like fighting so.. LETS GET IT ON!!!

Times Of Grace - The Hymn of a Broken Man

Man I a sooo glad that Adam and Jesse got together again. If you don't know of Adam Dutkiewicz and Jesse Leach are both founding members of Killswitch Engage. If you don't know KsE.. go hide. All I'm saying. Any way Jesse left, which is another story all together, but they boys are back! It's not that I don't like Howards voice, I just like Jesse's better.

So... the boys wrote a great album called "The Hymn of a Broken Man". I personally think it's fucking awesome. To me in the sad state I find most metal now a days this is a breath of fresh air. It's not full speed ahead, it's more like a ride. There are some heavy tracks like "Strength in Numbers" and then there are diamonds like "The Forgotten One". I love that song, it's mellow, but powerful. Don't go into this looking for KsE. You will find elements, but it's not comparable. I love both bands, but this was a great effort done by Adam and Jesse. And a really kool thing is that they will be playing the download festival this year, so if you can check them out!

iPod touch

Just trying this out on my touch. Figure if I'm going to keep it up this is really the only way is in the go. Let's see what happens!!

New Music?

OK... so whats the deal with Music now a days? Where is the rock? Popular music freakin' blows IMO. Every band I hear out there right now is doing either sappy shit, or they are doing this new dance/rock/pop. I don't get it. Are these the kids that grew up listing to rock bands and pop groups in the 90's and though.. "I should put this together.. it will sell lots of records." I get it.. no one has anything to say anymore? Bullshit. Someone needs to get this going again.

And what about all these bands that came out with hard rock/alternative albums, made a name and are now putting out horseshit? Don't pull the "we are branching out artistically" shit. You made some money and you're not angry anymore. It's not artistic it's garbage. If it were artistic you would have one or two "artsy" tracks and the rest the stuff your fans are looking for. We started listing to you and caring about you for a reason. Not to have you make some money and start writing radio friendly songs "cuz that's where the money is." Then you should have joined a boy or girl band and went on a pop tour. There are bands out there like Nickelback (if you don't like them suck a dick) that have songs that are heavy and dirty and just balls out... but they throw in 1 or 2 radio girly tracks to make some money. Metal bands did this in the 80's too.. we called them Ballads back then and it was fucking genius.

There are some bands out there that I really do dig, and I am sure I will get into that in another post. I know not everyone likes that same things, I'm kool with that and you go enjoy your shit and I'll enjoy mine. But I'm just saying.. lets bring back the balls in rock!

UFC 130

So hey I have only seen 1 fight so far (Mir VS Nelson). The first round looked awesome! Both guys were banging, Mir was using the clench and really tossing knees! Big Country looked sluggish (as usual) but was still throwing his over hand right. I think it connected once.. but it was more of a graze shot than anything. So I was pumped.. we were going to see a KO in round two.. well.. NOPE. There was an awesome throw by Mir... but the rest was just them laying on each other for the next two rounds. I became super frustrated. UFC has changed a lot in the past 2 years. No one really stands and bangs anymore. I don't think there is really enough incentive to do so. Most guys are totally happy with a big first round and then just take it easy for the rest. They try not to get too beat up and still get paid.
Now I'm not saying that it should go back to the bloodsport it once was but nothing is exciting anymore. It's all hyped up going into the event and then... let down. Don't get me wrong there are still some guys out there that are entertaining. Rampage Jackson for instance is hilarious! But he isn't KO'ing dudes like he used to. I haven't watched his fight but I heard that he tried to knock out Hamil but Hamil just kept trying to take him down.

We'll see.

** Old post that was a draft, should have been posted long ago **

I think it's funny Dana White has been saying for MONTHS that Strikeforce is nothing and that they aren't even competition and blah, blah, blah... then they up and buy them.. So they absorbed WEC in October, then bought Strikeforce in March.. what's left.. M1.. that might be it.. I didn't know, or didn't put 2+2 together that they had bought Pride back in 2002 I think it was. So I mean they have pretty much cleaned up all the competition, or lack there of if you trust what Dana originally said.

I think it will bring on some good fights, should they mix them up. But right now Dana said everything will stay as it is with the two companies separate. I guess so there is not a complete monopoly.. but there are guys in strikeforce that are there BECAUSE Dana kicked them out of the UFC. That my friend is what I find interesting. There are a couple guys that are kinda getting a second shot at "the big show". So we will see what develops over the next year or so.

Castle doctrine

SO I was reading in the paper today something that made me crazy. So there was a guy in Colbune, ONT. He bought a place out in the middle of nowhere to live a peaceful life. He got some settlement money from a work accident and was going back to school at a University for geo-something or other. The only problem he had was his neighbour, who had chickens. They kept getting out and wrecking his yard. He told them to keep them off his property or he would shoot them (the chickens). They didn't listen and he killed one, I'm guessing to make a point. Now that was a dumb idea. From there I guess this fued escalated into verbal threats from the neighbours and so on.

So then this guy wakes up int he middle of the night to strange noises.. comes to find his house is on fire! There are guys in maskes throwing molotov cocktails at his house!!! So he goes to his safe, get his gun and runs outside firing around the masked men, not at them. They run off and he proceeds to call the police, fire all that good stuff and gets the fire out.

Turns out the guy has his whole house rigged with security cameras. So he caught these assholes doing it. So he gets it all together and hands it to the police, who are now trying to charge him with carrying a weapon, misuse of the weapon and some other bullshit charges. The guy was a a former firearms instructor, if he wanted to kill them he could have.

I think we have gone to far with this shit. Honestly... if someone breaks into my house, or lights it on fire!, I'm fucking them up. With whatever I can get my hands on. You better beleive it. A "Cars" DVD.. you getting a beat down with it... a bat, you getting a beat down. I don't care, this should be about the people that are the problem not the person trying to stay alive or protect their family. Come one people. Here's some links:
