Heroes in Boston

After watching videos and seeing the pictures I'm inspired. Not with the mayhem, or chaos. But the heroes. The men and women running TOWARD the chaos. The people jumping into action to help their fellow man. Yes the first responders and folks on site, but also the pedestrians that were jumping onto the wounded, applying pressure to stop the bleeding. Those are the people that fascinate me. I'm sure as things settle and the story is straightened out as to who and why these unthinkable acts transpired our sights (as they always do) will drift; from the heroes to the villain.

It's a shame. I'm still not sure why society glorifies the scum as they do. Hell in Canada last year the press named the psycho that cut up someone and mailed his pieces all over as NEWS MAKER OF THE YEAR. Or the man that killed the people in the theatre in Aurora. Or the scumbag that tormented sandy hook.

All boosted up by media to sell papers or adds and so on. Why not dedicate more time to the folks that lived, the people that stood by and said "not while I'm here!" That's where the real interest is.

Who ever did this act of violence and hatred did get what they wanted. There are people dead, many injured, and city in chaos. But they did not succeed in one place. They did not break us. They did not break the human spirit. Sure they did a hell of a number on it. But watching the videos and seeing the pictures of the heroes in Boston takin care of the wounded should only help to build your faith in humanity when something like this tried to destroy it. As Patton Oswald said we out number the scum, and we will prevail.

Stay strong Boston. Hearts, thoughts and prayers are coming from all over the world for you.

Boston stay strong

It's a sad day today man. I can't believe the tragedy that has happened at the Boston marathon.
I know it's early, and a lot of things are going to come out and details will evolve. But I just can't believe it. Everything about who did it and why.. It's incredible.
In all honesty I don't know what to say. Thoughts go out to everyone effected and everyone stay strong!!

Last 10 Early Morning!!

2) Rage Against The Machine –Freedom
3) Black Sabbath – Paranoid
4) Goatwhore – when steel and bonemeet
5) Threat Signal – To Remember
6) Circle of Contempt – NothingImminent
7) Mulletcorpse – Horsebeater
8) Straight Line Stitch – Bar RoomBrawl
9) Upon A Burning Body – ElMariachi
10) Disturbed – Stupify (Fu Forrbidden Little Nicky Remix)

RATM!!!!! Man I love that band!!! And SABBATH!!!!!! And interesting one on the list is El Mariachi. Pretty impressive stuff, I like when a band shows off other elements they have. I also hate when people shit on bands for doing so. Eat a bag of dicks. So what if its different than the rest of the album. I also like when bands put on a mellow track. I understand why some don't, but its such a good showcase of the talent. Mulletcorpse is a band from London ONT. Check them out. The video doesn't really do them justice, its a live performance. Go here. Then you can truly see how awesome they are. All the other tracks are fun too, check them out.

Last 10!!!!

1)      Carnifex – Hell Chose Me
2)      As I Lay Dying – Forever
3)      Bullet for My Valentine – AllThese Things I Hate (Revolve Around Me)
4)      Soilwork – Overload
5)      A Bloodbath in Boston – Unquenchable
6)      Cattle Decapitation – TheCarbon Stampede
7)      Upon A Burning Body – Texas Blood Money
8)      Suicide Silence – Smoke
9)      Hollywood Undead –Lion
10)  Mudvayne – Not Falling

This might as well have been a hand picked list. Some of my favs, and all over the place shit. Hell Chose Me is fucking sick. AILD with one of their strongest tunes from the oldschool. And there are alt-metal/thrash mixings with BFMV. Say what you will I like those dudes. Soilwork is always solid, not someone that I can really get into. I don't know why. ABIB is sick, shitty I couldn't find a video for that track. Cattle Decapitation is fucking amazing. This album blew me away. Texas blood money is a fantastic fucking track. It even comes with a little Pantera reference... you gotta love that. SS has a fucking awesome track with smoke, not that you can go wrong with SS. Hollywood Undead... This isn't bad. Not great, but I have never really been into them. Their song Undead was really good.. but other than that I'm still waiting for something that pops out. And closed off with a classic track from the one and only Mudvayne. Need I say more. METAL MOTHERFUCKERS!!

Things in the works!

I know I only have 15 followers right now. But that might change one day. Until then I want to know what you 15 folks think. I have been doing a lot of "Last 10", would you want to see me start doing more full reviews of albums and movies again?

I have also been playing around with finally writing a movie. It's going to be a comedy, and loosely based on my life. Mostly about things I have seen and so on. BUT, here's the thing. I don't know if I want to do it as a movie, or as movie of a web series. Like a TV show, but I can just post it online or whatever.

I have also started playing with the idea of doing a podcast. Or like an audio blog that I can post on here along with all the other things.

Really what it boils down too is I want to actually pursue a more artistic life. One day I would love to get paid to the things above. How fucking awesome would that be! But gotta start somewhere and sitting around hoping and wishing isn't going to get things done.

So we will see how it goes. I'm going to really push myself to start writing and doing more creative shit, but then again I have a hard enough time trying to keep this blog up.. lol. Ah hell, only time will tell.

In the meantime spread this shit around like an STD! Get your friends on here and so on, the more the merrier!

10) Legions –The Weight

This was a good mix cuz it had a bit of everything. Heavy stuff, some dubstep and even a little hip hop. And Classified is a Canadian boy! Shut up, I give props to us Canucks any chance I can. Classic Slipknot track, Emmure is always on their shit. Some killer tracks from The Banished, and Legions. Check out that shit. Glass Cloud and A call to Sincerity also bring in some steller elements.

Last Ten - 06/03/2013 PM

10) Oceano –Disgust For Your Kind

Lots of good tunes here. I know the list is now over a month old. I have been moving and so on, so things were put on hold. But there are some kool things coming down the pipe.

StongBad.. I don't know if this is a joke band or song, or if its just terrible. To each their own, but this came off as a turd to me. We have the GODS of metal Pantera!! One of my favorite bands of all time! More Deftones, always good. Pretty much a solid line up of tracks here. Awesome tune from Shadows Fall. They are usually hit of miss with me and this was a hit for sure! Check them out!

Top 10 - 03/06/2013 Mid

8) Alice Through the Windshield Glass – The Gaarden
10) Skrillex –Roughneck (Full Flex Mix)

This was a fun mix because it had songs and bands that I hadn't heard before. Chelsea Grin starts things off with a solid track and Periphery keeps it going. Now Roadrunner United. FUCK. If you haven`t heard this album or seen the dvd that is out. Do yourself a favor and get on that shit. Some of the best musicians from that label mashed together making tracks together. Pure awesome.  Now I`m not really into bands like Muse. But I don`t mind this song. And IWrestledABearOnce did a sick job of making it WAY better! Lamb of God are easily one of my favs, and congrats to Randy for beating those bullshit charges over seas. Check it out!

Last 10 - 06/03/2013 AM

10) The HolyGuile – Idahoe

This is a good little mix. I like mixing heavy shit with hip hop. I think thats why rap metal appeals to me so much. Emmure is always a good time. Strapping Young Lad.. what can you say; its fucking awesome. Then it was kinda a head trip going from 8-10. Pounding bass, to a nice slow jam (properly titled lol) and then back to the mayhem that is The Holy Guile. FellSilent and Soulfly didn't have super strong tunes, but still a good mix. Check it out.

Last 10 (04/03/2013)

1) Cenob1te - Onslaught
2) Crown the Empire - The Fallout
3) Lordi - Bringing back the Balls to Rock
4) Lostprophets - Last Train Home
5) Infant Annihilator - Cuntcrusher
6) Conducting from the grave - Hit the lights... Armageddon is here
7) Threat Signal - When All Is Said and Done
8) Abandon All Ships - American Holocaust
9) Fort Minor - In Stereo
10) The Heavy - How You Like Me Now?

Infant Annihilator is fucking awesome. This song is fucking intense and extremely well done. If you don't have a musical orgasm about 2 mins into it, you hate metal. Just sayin, lol. Lordi is hilarious, especially this tune. It has so many musical references from other metal masters, its a classic. I'm also really into "dancecore" music scene. The singing isn't my fav but the pounding beats and wicked guitars makes up for it by Crown The Empire and Abandon All Ships. Then we have a rockier side with tunes from The Heavy and Lost Prophets. Some great tunes to bounce in your car with dubstep from Cenob1te (I think this is from transformers, could be wrong) and hip hop from Fort Minor. If you don't know them check it out. It's Mike from Linkin Park's hip hop project.

Last 10 Tracks (03/03/2013)

1) Silence - Dead Presidents
2) The Dillenger Escape Plan - Room full of Eyes
3) KoRn - Y'all want a single
4) Left for Dead - Plant the seed
5) I Killed Everyone - Omophagia
6) Fit For A Funeral - Wrath
7) Zimmershole - The Vowel Song
8) Vice Versa - Bitter Understanding
9) Slice the Cake - City of Ghosts
10) Soilwork - The Mind Maker

Pretty good mix here. I have never been a big Dillenger fan, but this was a pretty good track. I started to really like it about half way through. Love KoRn. Say what you will. And this is a great track to bump driving down the street! The Left for Dead track was again not my taste. So I flipped through the album and had to make the executive decision to let them go. LOL. I know there is a lot of folks out there that like them and that sound so they will do just fine.

Silence has a fucking sick track on their hand with dead presidents. And Slice the cake are fucking awesome. Zimmershole is always good for a laugh and some heavy shit. It was a shame I couldn`t find a link for Fit for a Funeral. Great track, great flow. Check it out.

Last 10 Tracks (01/03/2013)

It was a crazy busy day today so I didn't get to listen to a lot of tuneage. But I did get 10 for sure. Here's the latest list that my iPod toss at me.

1) Soulfly - Bleed [Feat. Fred Durst]
2) Pearl Jam - Even Flow
3) Kanye West - Love Locked Down
4) Deftones - Back To School
5) Currents - My Promise Kept
6) Oceano - Slow Murder
7) Abondon All Ships - Bro My God
8) Threat Signal - One Last Breath
9) Yelawolf - Throw It Up [Feat. Gangsta Boo & Eminem]
10) Zedd - Slam the Door

I really enjoyed this mix. If you don't know me, you will learn that I listen to A LOT of different kinds of music. Metal and 90's rock alternative are my bread and butter. But I love dubstep and hip hop. I really like his one because it had Threat Signal!! HAMILTON WHAT! Yeah I'm Canadian and fucking proud of it. And these guys slay! I have seen them before, would love to see them again. If you get a chance check them out. Oceano's new track is sick as hell. I am really starting to get into these guys more. Love the vocals. More Deftones! And who doesn't love some Pearl Jam? Come ON! I love the bass in Love Lock Down and fucking Yelawolf and Eminem... fucking sick.

This list is sold from start to finish. Might not be a mix you would be into set up this way, but it was perfect for me! Check it out.

Last 10 Middle of the day

2)      Ironhorse – Faith & Filth
4)      The Sorrow – Engraved In Our Hearts
6)      Deftones– Lotion

Some good ones in here too. I love the mix of genres. No... I will not get into any bull shit about subgenres and all that. lol. But there are a bunch in the mix above. I love Skrillex, especially the original mix to that track. I am not a fan however of the remix of the Static-X tune. I am Only One is kinda a snore track from that band. Funny story, when listening to them I thought "man this sounds like Evanescence." Well turns out it's pretty well everyone from the band but Amy Lee. It's definably a Ben Moody project. And they do have better tracks. Old Deftones will always has a special place in my heart. And Lotion is one of my all time favs. #1, 7 & 10 are all solid tracks too.

Last 10 Tracks (AM 28/02/2013)

Here’s a list of the last 10 songs I have listened too. I'm always looking for new music and I figure I would pass it on to you guys to check out. I'm going to have a link to the blog in case you want to go over and check out songs on YouTube or what have you. Some are old and some are new:

7)      Deserters – The Slow Rythms of a Dead-Beat

This was a pretty lucky mix. The only tune I wasn't really a fan of was Skin Graft. Just not my style.
Times of Grace are always excellent. And the last three tunes are fucking solid tracks by all the bands.
I'm kinda pissed I could not find a link for the Deserters tune because it is fucking good too.
I have been listening to stuff from all over the web. So some of the bands are posting their stuff on themselves and don't have videos, or YouTube channels or even labels. That's the fucking gold for me man. I love hearing raw shit that "the scene"doesn't have their hooks into. And love bands that play by their own rules. I'll post another "10" in a little bit.

New year, new goals

So. I'm not going to do the whole resolution thing. I have in the past and never follow through with it past the first couple weeks of January.
So what I am going to do is promise. I'm making a promise to myself that I had better follow through with or I'll kick my own ass.
Number one. I'm giving myself 1 year to lose 40lbs. That's a long enough time that I should be able to get it off and keep it off. I'm currently 280lbs which to my knowledge is the heaviest I have been. Which is crazy because this time last year I was working out several times a week and was down 20-30lbs. But 2012 was a very stressful year and as a stress eater I let myself go around June. Originally because I was going on vacation and figured I would get back on track after that. No such luck and here we are.
I did my first workout today and it felt awesome. Going to keep up with it for sure. Kick my ass if you notice I'm not updating here. Make sure I keep on it. And anyone else that is trying to lose and keep it off let me know and I'll help you out as much as I can with encouragement too! We all need support for sure.
The second thing I'm promising myself is to be more creative. I have a movie half written. I have a couple different musical projects just sitting there. And I know there is going to be resistance with extra work like this. But I wanna really push through and push myself to let some of my ideas see the light of day.

K I'm out guys. I'll keep you posted with how things are going, my losses and gains, and hopefully have some fun stuff for you guys to read and or listen too. Be good.
